And while Franklin says the characters are based on personalities crafted in the movies - Ariel is independent, Cinderella is a good friend - it’s hard to see those differences when you’re looking at their pictures on a bedspread. To little girls, these fairy tale heroines are pretty ladies, nothing more. And perhaps to adults, too.
